The ELLRA Transitional Executive Board members were tasked with deciding where to establish the Association in February 2022.
Key influences on the decision
- As almost 80% of the original associated members were Europe-based, and to make the Association accessible internationally, we considered a EuroZone country administratively feasible.
- Only two ELLRA Transitional Executive Board members were based in EuroZone countries, namely Cyprus and Portugal.
- After exploring legal procedures for setting up an association in these two countries, the Transitional Executive Board agreed to establish ELLRA in Portugal.
