Join ELLRA
2023 is a special year for ELLRA. It is the year we officially set up the Association, and we are still developing the member benefits.
As a not-for-profit organization we operate with the help of members of the ELLRA Governing Committees, who are all volunteers. Setting up the Association has involved costs which have been covered thus far thanks to donations and loans from ELLRA committee members and donations from sponsors.
Usually, a membership fee covers 12 months from January to December. However, your 2023 membership is a special Foundation One-Year Membership, covering the months July to December. Your support will enable us to:
- cover the costs of setting up the Association
- automate the membership process
- create the ELLRA member’s area
Joining in 2023 makes you a Founding Member of ELLRA and you can feel proud to have contributed to the creation of your Association!
How to join as an individual

The joining process for Individual Membership between July and December 2023 has THREE steps:
Step ONE: Document completion
- Download the Individual Membership Application Form.
- Read page 1 “Information clause on personal data processing regarding ELLRA members”.
- ELLRA is required to comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR, which requires you to be informed about and consent to how your data is stored and used. Without your consent, we cannot process your application.
- Complete page 2, beginning with the Consent section. Make sure you complete all parts marked *.
- Save the form using your last name as the file name (e.g., Ellis.pdf).
- Send the completed form to membership@ellra.org with ‘ELLRA Individual Membership Application’ in the email subject line.
Step TWO: Payment
- You will receive an automated email acknowledging your application. If you do not receive this email, please check your spam folder.
- As we are volunteers and everything is done by hand until we can set up the automated system, we ask that you are patient in waiting for the email with information for the payment method you have selected.
- The email with the payment information will include a Membership Identity Code (MIC). It is essential that you use your MIC when processing your membership payment. This helps us match you and your payment in the system.
Step THREE: Confirmation
- You will receive an email confirming that you are officially an ELLRA member.
How to join as an institution
The joining process for Institutional Membership between July and December 2023 has FOUR steps:
Step ONE: Within your institution
- Your institution agrees to apply for membership of ELLRA and designates an Institution Contact Person to be responsible for the application process and for ELLRA to contact about the membership.
- Your institution decides which Package to apply for (see three options on the Membership Types page).
- Your institution decides who the named members will be – depending on the package chosen.
Step TWO: Document completion
- The Institution Contact Person is responsible for completing the Institutional Membership Application Form .
- ELLRA is required to comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR, which requires the institution and nominated members to be informed about and consent to how their data is stored and used. Without giving consent, we cannot process the application.
- The Institution Contact Person downloads the Institutional Membership Application Form.
- The Institution Contact Person reads page 1 “Information clause on personal data processing regarding ELLRA members.”
- The Institution Contact Person should inform all members named in the application form about the “Information clause on personal data processing regarding ELLRA members”, and ensure that they understand and agree.
- The Institution Contact Person completes the application form, beginning with the Consent section. They ensure all parts marked * are completed.
- Note: the contact person responsible for the application form may also be one of the named members. Complete your name in BOTH places in this case.
- Save the application form using your institution’s name as the file name (e.g. XYZ-University.pdf).
- Send the completed form to membership@ellra.org with ‘ELLRA Institutional Membership Application’ in the email subject line.
Step THREE: Payment
- The Institution Contact Person will receive an automated email acknowledging the application. If you do not receive this email, please check your spam folder.
- A second email will follow with information about how to proceed with your chosen payment method and an invoice if you requested this.
- This information will include a Membership Identity Code (MIC). It is essential that the institution uses this MIC when processing the membership payment. This helps us match your institution and your payment in the system.
Step FOUR: Confirmation
- The Institution Contact Person will receive an email confirming that your institution is officially an ELLRA member.
- ELLRA will only communicate with the Institution Contact Person regarding the institutional membership.
